History

The school was initially founded as a free primary school for girls of Indian origin on the 4th February 1945 under the name of VEDIC VIDYALAYA. On the 13 March 1950 the school was converted to a secondary school for Girls’ registered under its present name. A plot of land at the present location was then purchased. In 1956, the then Governor of Mauritius Sir Robert Scott KCMG laid down the foundation stone of the proposed building which was completed and became functional in August 1957. The main objectives set were;

  • to provide Secondary Education to girls and prepare them for the Cambridge School Certificate examinations.
  • to promote Indian Culture and Values.

The school was eventually registered to run classes of forms one to six i.e preparing students for the Cambridge Higher School Certificate (HSC) Examination.
